Double Flip Circle Thinlit Card with Stampin' Up!'s Wetlands Stamp Set

A very happy crafty Thursday to you all. It is weigh in day at Slimming World today so wish me luck.

I wanted to share this card we made at my card class this month with you today. I love this double flip thinlit idea using the Circle Card Thinlits Die. It is so simple to create by running your card through the die twice (making sure the end of your card sits over the die not under so it isn't cut. I used this tuturial from France Martin to create my card base).

Here is more information on the Thinlits Card Dies from Stampin' Up!

I created my card base with the Natural Composition Designer Series Speciality Paper attached to the Crumb Cake card to run through the Big Shot with the die (this creates a perfectly matched flip card without worrying about lining up the card parts after). I used the Hardwood background stamped on Very Vanilla for the middle panel. The two circles were punched using my 2 1/2" Circle Punch from Watercolour Paper. We then used an Aquapainter with So Saffron, Bermuda Bay and Calypso Coral inkpads to wash the background. The Wetlands images were then stamped over the top (once the watercolouring had dried) using Old Olive and Chocolate Chip ink.

I love this neutral wood effect stamping and will really miss the Natural Compositions Papers when they leave the catalogue (only a month left to enjoy them!).

I hope you liked my crafty share today. Please get in touch if I have missed anything out or you would like any more information.

Button Bird Birthday Card with Stampin' Up! Designer Buttons

Good morning and a Happy Tuesday to you.

As you can see I am continuing my button crafting theme. This card was inspired by this card I found on Pinterest. I loved the whimsical little birds and knew they would work perfectly with the gorgeous Stampin' Up! Brights Designer Buttons. These are the best quality buttons I've ever used in papercrafting (well worth the money!) and I love that they perfectly match the Stampin' Up! inks and cardstock.

To create this card I simply punched 3 different sizes circles from a Daffodil Delight layer and then positioned my buttons. Using my Basic Black Stampin' Write Marker I then drew in the whimsical details of the little birds.

Be sure to check out the newly updated Clearance Rack by clicking the picture below. There are lots of newly added (and hugely reduced!) products at fantastic prices. But they are selling out fast so be sure to get your order in sooner rather than later.

Button Tree Birthday Card with Stampin' Up! Designer Buttons

Good morning crafters. How is this fine May treating you so far? Did you have a good weekend? It was a lovely bright and mild weekend here on the Isle of Wight. I was busily tucked up crafting. I made the most of every minute in my craft room as I had spent some time Pinteresting and was feeling super inspired. I also spent Saturday afternoon in the company of my lovely monthly card class ladies. More to come on those projects later in the week.....

Today's crafty make is this Button Tree Birthday Card.

I had seen a tree made with buttons on Pinterest and decided it would work perfectly with the stamped image from the Hopeful Thoughts stamp set. I stamped the tree in Chocolate Chip Ink on to a 9.2cm square of Baked Brown Sugar DSP from the 2013-2015 In Color Designer Series Paper Stack. I inked the edges in Chocolate Chip using my sponge dauber and then layered on to a 9.5cm square of Old Olive and a 10cm square of Naturals Ivory cardstock.

Once I had the basic layers (which I also wrapped with Linen Thread) I then arranged my Designer Buttons. I used different shapes and sizes from the Regals and Brights Collections. I laid them all out to cover the branches of the stamped image. Once happy with my arrangement I used Glue Dots to secure them to the card base.

Exciting news, be sure to check out the newly updated Clearance Rack by clicking the picture below. There are lots of newly added (and hugely reduced!) products at fantastic prices. But they are selling out fast so be sure to get your order in sooner rather than later.

Serene Silhouettes Art Gallery Card using Stampin' Up! products

A very Happy Thursday to you all.

I'm a bit late in posting today. It has been a crazy busy week one way or another what with baby jabs (*big sad face*) and appointments and a bit of crafting too. Oh and I am up to my ears in card class preparation too. So please accept my apologies for a late in the day crafty post this afternoon.

If you have 'liked' my Facebook page (www.facebook.com/stampinupiow) you will have been following the pictures I have been sharing of all my lovely Telford swaps. Pop over and click like if you'd like a little swappy inspiration. Demonstrators are a truly creative bunch of crafters.

I was blog surfing a few weeks ago and came across a beautiful card that had taken an art gallery as its inspiration for a card layout. I just loved the simple idea and decided to have a go with my daubers and the Serene Silhouettes stamp set.

I used a simple Basic Black cardstock base (21cm x 14.8cm scored at 10.5cm) and then created three 1.5" squares for the mini artworks. I sponge these with my daubers in Old Olive, Crushed Curry and Pool Party to create the grass, sunset and sky.

I then stamped the silhouettes (the bottom silhouette is taken from the Wetlands stamp set) in Basic Black over the top. I finished with two tiny butterflies cut using my Beautiful Wings Embosslits (they were cut using the Quatrefancy Speciality Paper) and the greeting from Wetlands stamped in Encore Silver ink.

Brights Zoo Babies Birthday Greetings

Happy Tuesday Crafty Friends.

Today's make is the second of Summer's birthday cards. I created this one for Mum and Dad to give her.

This uses some crafty masking (using a post-it note stamped and cut around to cover the bits of the image you don't want to stamp on) to create this stack of Brights Zoo Babies.

The colour scheme is Tempting Turqoise, Old Olive, Daffodil Delight, Melon Mambo & Tangerine Tango. All colours from the Brights family.

I matched the Zoo Babies stamp set with Sketched Birthday. I created the flag with the Happy Birthday Banner from Sketched Birthday. And on the inside I masked the giraffe and stamped the Sketched Birthday balloon.

Telford Swap using Stampin' Up!'s My Digital Studio

Good morning and a very happy Saturday to you.

Now I don't normally post on a Saturday but I wanted to share a special project with you today. As you read this I will be swapping and sharing with fellow Demonstrators at our Regional Training Event in Telford.

I wanted to be able to participate in the swaps but have had very limited time recently with Sylvie arriving and Summer's birthday. So I decided to use My Digital Studio to design my 'Create' swap which I thought was perfect for a large group of creative Demonstrators.

For this swap I used two downloads:

I then used the core kit elements:
  • Top Note Die
  • Creative Elements Stamp Brush Set
I specifically searched my online stores for downloads with the word 'Create'. I wanted to combine the fancy handwriting style Create from the Walk in the Park II kit with the definition from Define Your Life. I love how the elements combined with birds, hearts and butterflies to create this lovely little 4" x 6" postcard for fellow creators to frame or put on their craft space walls.

Once I had completed my design I exported my finished image and uploaded to a printing website (I used Snapfish for this) where I had my image professionally printed on to matte cardstock. If you look around at various printing service websites you can complete trials where they will offer free prints. I signed up and received 50 free prints with Snapfish.

If you pop over to Martin Lewis's website there is a tool there for seeing which sites are offering the best deals:

Thank you for stopping by today. Please leave a comment to let me know if you swapped with me. I would love to hear from you.

Circle Thinlit Minion Birthday Card

Good morning and a very happy Thursday to you.

I am in the midst of packing all the essential bits and pieces needed for me exciting weekend away meeting up with Demonstrators from all over the country at our Regional Training event in Telford.

But before I go I wanted to share with you one of my crafty creations for Summer's 2nd Birthday last weekend. She is a HUGE fan of Despicable Me and the Minions. I did a quick image search for crafty makes of the Minions and saw a similar card made with the fantastic Circle Thinlits Die

I absolutely LOVED the idea of using the Thinlits Die to create a character flip card. Unfortunately the card that inspired this one did not link to a blog so I cannot give credit. But what a fantastic idea!

I cut the Thinlit die from Daffodil Delight cardstock and hand cut the blue dungarees from Pacific Point cardstock. For the eye I layered Basic Gray, Whisper White, Soft Suede and Basic Black punched with a variety of punched circles. The mouth was hand cut.

And here is the birthday cake I made for Summer (I did purchase the topper from Ebay!)

And the happy birthday girl herself:

Floral Frames Treat Box from Stampin' Up! UK Demonstrator Sarah Poulton

Good morning and  welcome to another crafty week here at Stampin' Sarah! Sorry for the day late blog post but, excitingly, I have signed up with another direct sales company over the weekend to run alongside my Stampin' Up! business. I have been busily getting everything together for my new venture. But more about that later. Back to today's crafty share.

I had seen these beautiful little rose treat holders somewhere in the blogosphere. I fell in love with them. But the description only said they were made with the Floral Frames Framelits with no instructions. So after a few frustrating attempts at working out how these are made I came up with these picture instructions to help you create these for yourself. They are perfect for fitting one of these lovely (and addictive) Lindor Chocolates in.

I have used the largest two Floral Frames Framelits to make the layered boxes and then the next size down (with the rounded petals) for the base.

These are the component parts you will need to make your rose treat holder:

This is how the flowers need to be scored (you need to do this with both floral die cuts). I have also inked and curled the edges (as shown in the pictures) in a contrasting colour to give that edged rose effect.

You then need to fold the tabbed (uninked) bits inside to create two little boxes as below.

I have then layered 4 Dimensionals on top of one another on the bottom of the smallest box (to raise it up and give the layered petals of a rose) and stuck this inside the larger box. You can then stick both boxes on to your inked green floral base.

Here is the finished rose box made with Daffodil Delight, Crisp Cantaloupe and Pistachio Pudding cardstock.

Here are my two sample boxes together (the other one is made from two layers of Rose Red cardstock with a Garden Green base.

These are super simple and effective to make. If you have any questions or if the pictures aren't clear at all, please get in touch on poulton_sarah@yahoo.co.uk and I'll happily answer your questions ;0)

Virtual Club Welcome Gifts

Happy Friday! Only a few hours till the weekend begins. I am celebrating the arrival of the weekend with a Stampin' Up! party this evening. I've been on a bit of a party break with Sylvie's arrival. So I am hugely looking forward to a bit of crafting and catching up with some of my customers.

Today's crafty make uses the Stampin' Up! Chevron Tag a Bag Gift Bags. I wanted to make a welcome gift for my new virtual club members and had seen Monica's project using these bags and thought they would be perfect filled with some welcome goodies (Designer Series Paper, Crumb Cake Envelopes and Dimensionals).

I changed the colour scheme for the welcome tag. This uses Designer Series Paper from the Quatrefancy Speciality Papers matched with pennants cut in Silver Glimmer Paper and Island Indigo Cardstock using the Banner Frameliets Dies. I matched these layers with Daffodil Delight Stitched Grosgrain Ribbon and the 'Welcome' stamped in Island Indigo using the Occasions Alphabet stamp set and punched with the Ticket Duo punch. I finished with a coat hanger clip from the Hung Up Cute Clips set.

Thank you for popping by today and I hope you have a lovely weekend planned. If you would like to find out more about any of the products used or joining one of my Virtual Hostess Clubs please get in touch on poulton_sarah@yahoo.co.uk or 01983 609249.

Crisp Cantaloupe Floral Birthday

Good morning crafters.

Today I am sharing another project from our April Card Class. I saw a series of cards made by Janine Tinklenberg in the US using the Blessed Easter stamp and was inspired by her use of the gold embossing powder. I used her cards as the starting point for this Crisp Cantaloupe card creation. Colour matching was what made me fall in love Stampin' Up! And the perfectionist in me is still hugely satisfied creating a perfectly colour matched card with coordinating Designer Papers, cardstock, ink and ribbon

This card uses:

Cardstock : Crisp Cantaloupe, Raspberry Ripple, & Whisper White.
Stamps: Blessed Easter & Simply Sketched Hostess Set
Ink: Crisp Cantaloupe and Raspberry Ripple

By the Tide Birthday Bookmark

Good morning Stampers.

I hope you are enjoying the long weekend. What have you been up to this fine May Day? I squeezed in a little craftiness on Saturday making my Hostess Club welcome gifts. I will share those with you later in the week. But now my mini flurry of birthdays in briefly paused (to be resumed next weekend) I can share the second of the birthday cards I made for my Dad.

If you remember this project I made last year for Mother's Day (altered gift cards) well then you might recognise one of the elements of this birthday card. Mum wanted to create a bookmark as part of the card for my Dad. His books are often littered with old train tickets and receipts that he uses as page markers. So as this old gift card was about the same size Mum wanted to create a fishy themed glazed bookmark and then use it as a focal point for a card.

I covered the gift card in Modern Medley Designer Series Paper and inked the edges with my daubers and Soft Suede ink. I then stamped the seaweed image from By The Tide across the newsprint. I also stamped the fish from the same set twice in Black Stazon on to a scrap piece of Very Vanilla. I sponge daubered Garden Green ink over the fish images (and then inked Gold Encore ink over the top to give the fish a Ghost Koi feel). The seashell is from the By The Seashore stampset.

To finish the card I used a Tempting Turquoise base with Island Indigo and Soft Suede layers.  For the inked main layer I used Naturals White Cardstock (slightly textured like sand) and stamped the seaweed again and then used a stamping sponge to spread Pool Party ink over the background. I then ripped two pieces of cardstock (Crumb Cake and Soft Suede) to give the sandy feel to the base of the image. I then used a length of Linen Thread and a Neutrals Button to finish the embellishment.

The base of the card was inspired by this creation I found on Pinterest. I thought it made a perfect base to highlight the fishy bookmark (which i glazed with Mod Podge to make it last longer).

Zenspired Birthday Greetings

Good morning and a very Happy Birthday to my littlest sister today. I promised yesterday I would be sharing something a little different today and here it is.

While surfing Pinterest I came across Joanne Fink and her Zenspirations books. I have always loved doodling, sparkle and colouring in. And creating Zenspiration drawings gives me an opportunity to combine all of the above with my love for Stampin' Up!

This is only be second attempt at a Zenspiration style monogram and I thought it would make a perfect birthday card for Sophie. I looked up a few different styles of monogram. My favourite style is the dangle designs where you create hanging hearts so I incorporated a little of this in to my 'S'. Once I'd pencilled my design I went over with my Basic Black Stampin' Write Marker and then coloured my design with my Brights Stampin' Writes. The stamp is one I found in my stash (sadly not Stampin' Up!).

I was attempting to use my sisters gift as the inspiration for the design. I wanted nice bright colours to reflect the striped of her birthday gift- these lovely bright summer sandals for our summer holiday.

Below is a close up of the stripes I drew in to the design for her 'S' birthday card. You can see how I had a few issues with adding the glitter. I wanted to add a little sparkle so I used my Dazzling Details to colour over sections of the 'S'. But unfortunately it bubbled the paper and made the coloured ink do funny things too. I still think it looks lovely though. I just won't do it again! I loved adding the Basic Rhinestones to the lines to add a little glitz and bling.

So while this isn't a traditional Stampin' Up! stamped card I have used my lovely Brights Collection card stock (Pumpkin Pie, Tempting Turquoise, Daffodil Delight and Melon Mambo) and Stampin' Write Markers to create this doodled design. I am a little bit addicted to these drawings at the moment and have been using every spare minute between baby feeds and child entertaining to have a go at these doodles.

Thank you for popping by today. You can order all Stampin' Up! products through my online store by click here or by clicking on any of the product links above. I will also happily order any products for you. Just drop me a line on poulton_sarah@yahoo.co.uk or 01983 609249 and I'll happily assist.

New Photopolymer Stamps & A By The Tide Birthday

Good morning and a Happy May 1st to everyone. And also a very Happy Birthday to my Dad too.

The new month has brought some exciting news from Stampin' Up! The new catalogue will include an exciting new range of photopolymer stamps (completely clear stamps so you can see exactly where you are stamping). To celebrate these new stamps, throughout May Stampin' Up! are offering a free photopolymer stamp set with a purchase of £60+. These sets are exclusive and will not be carrying over in to the new catalogue. So this is your only chance to get your hands on them. You can find out more my clicking on my 'Promotions' tab above or by clicking on the photo above to be connected to my online store.

So with the start of May begins my little run of family birthdays. Today's birthday is my Dads and today's crafty share is the card I made for his birthday. This card is a case of a lovely project I saw over on Monica Gale's blog. My Dad loves his fish so when I saw this card made with the By The Tide stamp set I knew it would be perfect for him.

I love the layered stamping and the detail of using the Chevron Ribbon, Designer Button and Linen Thread to give that nautical feel. The fish was stamped with Black Stazon and then daubered with So Saffron and Marina Mist to give this two tone feel.

I also made another card for Dad using this set which was from Mum. It is a lovely little card/gift. I will be sharing that next week as I have another birthday project to share tomorrow. I have been trying out some new doodling arty techniques and I made my sisters birthday card using all the lovely bright Stampin' Write markers. Pop back tomorrow to see what I created for my littlest sister.

Thank you for popping by today. You can order all Stampin' Up! products through my online store by click here or by clicking on any of the product links above. I will also happily order any products for you. Just drop me a line on poulton_sarah@yahoo.co.uk or 01983 609249 and I'll happily assist.
