A pop up Sketched Birthday Card from Stampin' Up! UK Demonstrator Sarah Poulton

Good morning and welcome to May. And of course a very Happy Birthday to my Dad.

Today's card is not my Dad's actual birthday card (I cannot share that until after he has received it). But in celebration of his birthday I am sharing one of our card class projects from last month. I came across this fantastic pop up card over on Vicky's blog and decided to make my own pop up birthday card.

For the front cover I used Tangerine Tango, Real Red, Daffodil Delight and Pacific Point. I stamped the greeting from the Age Awareness stamp set and added the balloons from the same set.

For the inside I used the measurements shared by Vicky (cut a piece of whisper white card stock 4 1/4" x 2 3/4"  and score at 1", 2", 3" and 4") to create the pop up section. I then stamped images from the soon to be retired Sketched Birthday and cut then to attach to the pop up square.

This is such a simple way to create a fun pop up interactive card. It could be used for any occasion or with any stamp set.

You can click over to my Online Store or drop me a line on poulton_sarah@yahoo.co.uk to order any products direct with me.

I have another Chalkboard Easel Card to share with you today. I created this for a card class last year using the gorgeous All Abloom Designer Series Paper Stack to make the mini banner

To create the chalkboard effect I used Basic Black cardstock rubbed with the Embossing Buddy (the more chalk you get on the black to look like smudges the better the effect). I then stamped the images from Sketched Birthday with Versamark and heat embossed with White Embossing Powder.

I finished with a little added doodling created with my Chalk Marker.

Thank you for popping by today. You can find out more about the new Spring Summer Catalogue and Sale-A-Bration promotion by clicking here or by using the navigation menu on the left. This really is the most exciting time of the year to shop. New products and fantastic freebie rewards too.

A Big Sketched Birthday Bash Scrapbook Page from Stampin' Up! UK Demonstrator Sarah Poulton

Good morning and a very Happy Monday to yoiu. What a beautiful weekend we had here on the Isle of Wight. I took the girls for a walk yesterday in the beautiful sunshine. With a smattering of bulbs pushing through the soggy ground and sun blazing down it feels like Spring is just around the corner.

I have another scrapbook page to share with you today. I wanted to create a simple birthday layout with the gorgeous gold foiled Birthday Bash Speciality Designer Series Papers in the Spring Summer catalogue. I knew they would be a perfect match with the Sketched Birthday stamp set.

I used a Whisper White 12"x12" base and then created a Daffodil Delight strip (12"x4") which I stamped with the images from Sketched Birthday. I used the colours from the DSP as my theme: Bermuda Bay, Calypso Coral, Crushed Curry and Tangelo Twist.

I then created my banner using the Banner Framelit Dies and offcuts of the Birthday Bash DSP. I arranged my photos first (layered over a 4.25"x6.25" piece of DSP) then positioned my banners before glueing. I added small embellishments to my banners including Brights Buttons, glimmer paper stars punched with my Itty Bitty Accents Star Punch and Candy Dots.

To finish I added my title. I cut the 'Happy' using my Hello You Thinlits and the 'Birthday' was cut from Gold Foil card using my Little Letters Thinlits.

I hope you enjoyed my crafty make today. The pictures are from Summer's 2nd birthday last year. She loves balloons of all shapes and sizes so I knew the lovely gold foiled Speciality Papers with the ballooon design would be a perfect accent for my scrapbook page. Birthday season is nearly upon my again. I am in the process of starting my planning for Sylvie next month and Summer in May. Where does the time go?

A Belated Chalkboard Stampin' Up! Birthday

Good morning crafty friends.

How was your weekend? I hope you had a lovely one. It was beautiful sunshine here on the island and we enjoyed spending some time together with the family. Saturday was my card class and Summer loves chatting to all my lovely ladies in attendance. However, when she got home from her afternoon with Nana and Papa she zonked out on the sofa so missed her usual monthly crafty gossip (in a 2 year olds jibber jabber). But her nap meant she was fully energised for Saturday evening's carnival. She loved dancing and marching along with the marching bands and floats.

But back to crafting. It was one of my lovely crafty friends birthday at the beginning of July. She celebrated on Friday evening and I made this chalkboard card for her. It was inspired by this post. Wendy is a teacher so this chalkboard made a perfect birthday card for her.

To create this I used Hardwood stamped on the 1cm lengths of Crumb Cake in Soft Suede ink (the card uses 4 x (14cm x 1cm) lengths and 4 (7cm x 1cm) lengths).  I then mounted these lengths on to a piece of Basic Black measuring 28cm x 9cm (scored in the centre at 14cm). Once my basic chalkboard was created I then decorated with the cake image from Sketched Birthday which I heat embossed with White Embossing Powder. I used the sentiment and star stamp from Something to Say. To finish I coloured and embellished with my White Stampin' Chalk Marker. The chalk marks on the black cardstock were created by over zealously patting with my Embossing Buddy.

Here is a little peek at my weekend. Summer loves Despicable Me and the 'Ah Ahs' (her word for banana which she associates with the Minions due to the Banana Song she has watched many times on Youtube). We treated her to a helium balloon at the Carnival which she proudly walked around with all evening.

Thank you for stopping by today and sharing in a little crafty creativity. If you'd like any further information about the project, please get in touch.

Brights Zoo Babies Birthday Greetings

Happy Tuesday Crafty Friends.

Today's make is the second of Summer's birthday cards. I created this one for Mum and Dad to give her.

This uses some crafty masking (using a post-it note stamped and cut around to cover the bits of the image you don't want to stamp on) to create this stack of Brights Zoo Babies.

The colour scheme is Tempting Turqoise, Old Olive, Daffodil Delight, Melon Mambo & Tangerine Tango. All colours from the Brights family.

I matched the Zoo Babies stamp set with Sketched Birthday. I created the flag with the Happy Birthday Banner from Sketched Birthday. And on the inside I masked the giraffe and stamped the Sketched Birthday balloon.

You can order all Stampin' Up! products through my online store by clicking here or by clicking on any of the product links above. I will also happily order any products for you. Just drop me a line on poulton_sarah@yahoo.co.uk or 01983 609249 and I'll happily assist.

And don't forget to check out this weeks Weekly Deals to see what fab items are discounted for a limited time only (until Tuesday).

Card in a Box Birthday Celebration

Good morning crafters and a big welcome to a new crafty week.

A HUGE thank you to all the visitors to my blog over the weekend for Pinkies Sale-A-Bration blog hop. I can see from my statistics that I had a lot of new visitors to Stampin' Sarah. I hope you liked my little Sale-A-Bration Owl. If you pop back tomorrow I will give you a break down of how I created the little chap.

Now on to the order of the day, a big Happy Birthday to my Mum! I spent several hours tucked away in my craft room this weekend while Summer was entertained downstairs with Daddy (I found them tucked up together eating blueberries and watching cartoons when I'd finished!) creating two birthday cards for Mum.

The first is this card in a box creation.

I've seen so many different versions of this style of card across the blogosphere and decided to give one a go. It took a bit of time to get my colour scheme sorted. But I'm really happy with the result. I found this fab tutorial over on The Serene Stamper's blog which explained how to go about creating one of these cards in a box. I used the video to gain my card base and I then decorated with my own floral theme using the Sale-A-Bration Sweet Sorbet Designer Series Paper and matching coloured cardstock (Crisp Cantaloupe, Pistachio Pudding, Summer Starfruit and Pool Party).

I created this Happy Birthday using the gorgeous Four Frames stamp set (and coordinating Decorative Label Punch) matched with the Sketched Birthday banner stamp. I finished with my favourite Basic Pearls.

Here is a closer view of the pop up element of the card using the Pansy Punch and the Petite Petal Punch which is launching Tuesday as part of the Spring Summer catalogue. I also created the rock n' roll butterfly using Papillon Potpourri and the matching Elegant Butterfly punch.

This is how the card folds down to fit in a standard C6 envelope.

The second card I created I designed specifically for Summer to give to Nana. I  had stitched the wooden heart keyring and wanted to create a Stampin' Up! card to match this piece of cross stitch (and also feature the gift). I chose the beautifully bright Gingham Garden Designer Series Papers to highlight my floral heart.

Here is a close up of my stitched keyring.

I have to confess to being a little addicted to creating these sunshine cards and scrapbook pages. I had seen so many and been so in awe of the technique. I never realised how quick and easy (and simple) it is to create this effect. All you need to create your own sunshine card or page is to measure the space you want to sunshine to fill and then cut a piece of scrap card to those measurements. All you then have to do is create a template for your pieces and use these to trace around and cut your Designer Series Papers.

This is the template I created for the card above (a standard 14.8cm x 10.5cm card base). This measured 14.3cm x 10cm and I randomly cut the lines from my centre sunshine point to the edges. I marked each piece A-H to ensure I didn't mix up my pieces (the ticks were to remind me that I had already cut that piece from DSP).

Thank you for stopping by today. Today is the last day to order any of the exclusive Valentines products I have previously showcased. Please pop by my online store if you'd like to order any of these before they are gone for good.

And just another quick reminder that Sale-A-Bration and the Spring Summer catalogue launch tomorrow!! I am so excited to share all the fabulous products with you. Please pop back all week as I have a whole series of cards and projects to share, starting with instructions for my blog hop owl tomorrow.

Please get in touch with any questions or to find out more about placing an order, joining my team, or hosting a party: poulton_sarah@yahoo.co.uk or 01983 609249.

A very Happy Flower Shop Birthday

Hello crafty lovelies.  I hope you had fantastic weather where you are this weekend. We were sweltering here on the Isle of Wight and so Sam, Summer and I went adventuring in our camper.

Today's card is a floral making that I put together for a crafty friend of mine that comes along to my classes. I was once again inspired by our new In Colors, Strawberry Slush, Coastal Cabana, Crisp Cantaloupe, & Pistachio Pudding. I paired these new colours with the fantastic Flower Shop Bundle (Flower Shop stamp set paired with the Pansy Punch). I finished with the coordinating In Color Boutique Details.

The Happy Birthday banner is from one of my favourite new stamp sets, Sketched Birthday.

I really enjoyed putting this card together and I find the new In Colors so inspiring. I used our fab washi tape on the inside of the card to attach a Stampin' Up! gift card for Pat.

This card uses:

Sketched Birthday (130423 £21.95 / 130426 £17.95)
Flower Shop Bundle (132727 £31.75 / 132726 £28.25)

Thanks for popping by today. Better publish this and get ready for work ;0)
