Serene Silhouettes Birthday Greetings Card from Stampin' Up! UK Demonstrator Sarah Poulton

How much are you loving the new Stampin' Up! catalogue?

There is just so much to choose from amid all the loveliness. I cannot wait to create and share so many new projects and ideas over the upcoming months.

Today I have a birthday card I created with my Hostess Club ladies recently using the Serene Silhouettes and Butterfly Basics stamp sets.

To create this card we punched a circle from a piece of scrap card and used the scrap piece as a mask. Using a Stampin Sponge (or a dauber would work too) we sponged So Saffron ink as a base and then Calypso Coral ink over the top to create a sunset.

Once the sunset effect was created we stamped the branch silhouette in Memento Black and covered with Clear Embossing. This gives a lovely sheen and raised texture to the card.

To finish we stamped the Happy Birthday from Butterfly Basics in Calypso Coral ink.

A super simple, quick and easy note card which could be personalised for any occasion.

Serene Silhouettes Card Set from Stampin' Up! Demonstrator Sarah Poulton

Good morning crafters.

How was your weekend? Mine was spent with a head cold which resulted in a lot of things being dropped, a fair few silly accidents and bumps, and one very interesting card class where my fuzzy head meant I didn't make a whole lot of sense trying to teach our projects for the month. But we got there in the end.

I have a set of birthday cards inspired by Serene Silhouettes to share today. I had seen this card on Pinterest and knew it would look lovely with a Stampin' Up! twist. So I set about recreating it using the stamps from Serene Silhouettes as my focus.

The colours I picked were So Saffron, Cajun Craze and Calypso Coral . I used a So Saffron base for two of the cards with a layer of Cajun Craze and the stamping layer was on Whisper White.

I created masks with my circle punches in various sizes. I sponged the colours through my masks to create the coloured backgrounds.

For this first card I created two masked circles and I then heat embossed the butterfly circle with gold embossing powder. I added the greeting from Wetlands and then added pearls and circles of gold ink using a sponge dauber.

This second card more closely resembles the Pinterest card.  I used the silhouetted flower heads stamp over the three masked circles. I heat embossed the silhouette in gold.

And the final card was a more simplified version of the butterfly circle card. This time instead of sponge daubering circles I used the rubber on the end of a pencil to stamp smaller gold circles over the card. I added basic pearls as a final embellishment.

Have you checked out the retiring lists yet? Still some great bargains to be had. Don't forget these items are only available while stocks last.

With a new catalogue just around the corner this is a perfect time to pick up a bargain and say goodbye to some old favourites. There are lots of stamps and accessories on these lists that I love and will be sad to see leave. But then I am super excited to see what the new catalogue has in store too.

Thank you for popping by today. Please let me know if you have any questions about Stampin' Up! or our products. I would love to help. Serene Silhouettes Vintage Birthday Card

Good morning. I hope you've explored the fantastic Project Life Customer Sneak Peek over on my online store. This really is a hugely exciting new range of products and I cannot wait to start showing you projects made with all the new loveliness.

But for today I wanted to share this card we made at last month's card class. This was a CASE of a beautiful swap I received from my upline Michelle at Telford. It was simply stunning! I couldn't exactly deconstruct her card (and I also didn't have the beautiful swirly sentiment she used) so I did the best I could with the stamps I had.

I started with a Crumb Cake base and stamped the writing from By The Tide in Crumb Cake ink (it is pale enough that no one will realise the writing is about shells!). I inked the edges of the cardstock with Soft Suede ink and then layered the stamped floral image from Serene Silhouettes over the top (I coloured the stamp with Island Indigo, Pool Party & Old Olive Stampin' Write markers).

I then picked a swirly sentiment from a now retired stamp set for the greeting which was heat embossed with Silver Embossing Powder. We layered the Crumb Cake on to a Pool Party layer and then glued to an Early Espresso base.

And to finish we used our Two Way Glue Pen & Dazzling Diamonds to create glittered edges to our silhouette stamp.

This was such a beautiful swap to receive (and it came with chocolate too! Who doesn't love a chocolatey treat?) and I'm glad I was able to reconstruct it. The colour scheme went down really well at my class.

Serene Silhouettes Art Gallery Card using Stampin' Up! products

A very Happy Thursday to you all.

I'm a bit late in posting today. It has been a crazy busy week one way or another what with baby jabs (*big sad face*) and appointments and a bit of crafting too. Oh and I am up to my ears in card class preparation too. So please accept my apologies for a late in the day crafty post this afternoon.

If you have 'liked' my Facebook page (www.facebook.com/stampinupiow) you will have been following the pictures I have been sharing of all my lovely Telford swaps. Pop over and click like if you'd like a little swappy inspiration. Demonstrators are a truly creative bunch of crafters.

I was blog surfing a few weeks ago and came across a beautiful card that had taken an art gallery as its inspiration for a card layout. I just loved the simple idea and decided to have a go with my daubers and the Serene Silhouettes stamp set.

I used a simple Basic Black cardstock base (21cm x 14.8cm scored at 10.5cm) and then created three 1.5" squares for the mini artworks. I sponge these with my daubers in Old Olive, Crushed Curry and Pool Party to create the grass, sunset and sky.

I then stamped the silhouettes (the bottom silhouette is taken from the Wetlands stamp set) in Basic Black over the top. I finished with two tiny butterflies cut using my Beautiful Wings Embosslits (they were cut using the Quatrefancy Speciality Paper) and the greeting from Wetlands stamped in Encore Silver ink.

Fancy Vintage Screen Card

Good morning and welcome to Make it Thursday.

Today I am sharing two projects from our monthly card class. The card above was our Fancy Vintage Screen. I had seen a similar shaped card on Pinterest and decided to design my own version.

We used papers from the Tea for Two Designer Series Paper set as a stamping base (daubered around the edges with Soft Suede) and then stamped images from Elements of Style and Serene Silhouettes. We then coloured the floral image and punched butterflies using both the Elegant Butterfly & Bitty Butterfly Punches. We finished with basic pearls and floral trim. The screen shaping was created using the Decorative Label punch. If you only place your paper in to the punch half way and then punch you get the lovely shaped effect along the bottom.
Our second project (and my technique for the day) is this Vellum gift bag. I know my crafty ladies love using Vellum in their crafting and had previously loved the Vellum bags available in our previous seasonal catalogue. So I set about finding a gift bag tutorial that I could try using Vellum with. My tip for the day is to try replacing your usual cardstock or designer papers with a sheet of Vellum when making a gift bag to see the effect you will get. Vellum looks beautiful embossed (it goes white where the stress is placed on the Vellum when embossing). This works especially well with smaller bags like this. It would be perfect for party favours or to put brightly coloured chocolates in as a gift.

We finished our bag with an image stamped using Fine Feathers and a bitty button layered with matching cardstock.

Please get in touch if you would like any further information on Stampin' Up! and the beautiful products or to talk through joining Stampin' Up! as a Demonstrator. I also have upcoming dates available for parties if you'd like to earn some extra product freebies. Drop me a line on poulton_sarah@yahoo.co.uk or 01983 609249.

Thanks for popping by today and happy crafting ;0)

Thursday Technique: Emboss Resist on Canvas

This is a card I taught at my recent February Card Class. This was our new technique for the month. We used a piece of the new Canvas Creations cut using the Labels Framelits. This is a variation on the Emboss Resist technique using canvas as the base material.

Here is a close up of the embossing technique.

To recreate this you need to emboss your chosen image in white or clear embossing powder (dependin on the effect you are looking for) on to the canvas. I embossed this lovely floral image from the Serene Silhouettes stamp set.

Once you have heat embossed your image (warning, this may take slightly longer due to the canvas. Instead of a raised embossed image you will find the powder is soaked in to the canvas instead) you can start sponging your ink in to the canvas to make the image pop. I chose Raspberry Ripple, Calypso Coral and Daffodil Delight for my three 'sunset' style colours. If you are quite heavy handed with your sponging you will find your embossed image pops out from the background. The lighter you ink the less contrast there is with the embossing.

I love this textured image and how the inking reveals the embossed image. It is a great technique to try if, like me, you enjoy using your heat tool and embossing powders.

Thanks for popping by today.

A bit of Christmas craftiness

Follow Me on Pinterest
Happy Saturday morning to you all ;0)

Well first I must apologise for the lack of pictures this week of my workshop projects. They have disappeared. I have searched my craft room from corner to corner (and I know I have seen them somewhere!) and cannot find the gift tag and card we made. I am sure they will turn up. But it'll probably be in the New Year knowing my luck.

So instead I will share with you two of our projects from todays card class.

Firstly our 3D project for the month is this hot chocolate wallet.

This was inspired by a similar wallet I had seen on Pinterest. I thought as a festive treat for my craft class ladies this would be a lovely little project to make. It is embellished with images stamped from the Scentsational Season stamp set and mittens punched with the Mitten Punch.

Secondly, I cased this card from the super talented Vicky over at Crafting Clare. I loved how she had created these baubles using the Serene Silhouettes stamp set so I had a go myself.

Her tip to use a two way glue pen and white embossing powder for the snowfall is absolutely perfect.

Thanks for stopping by today. I hope your Christmas-y preparations are going well. We are super excited to get Summer's first Christmas tree this weekend. Pictures to follow once decorated tomorrow. In the mean time, here is a festive pic of my little monkey taken yesterday to celebrate the season.
