Fancy Vintage Screen Card

Good morning and welcome to Make it Thursday.

Today I am sharing two projects from our monthly card class. The card above was our Fancy Vintage Screen. I had seen a similar shaped card on Pinterest and decided to design my own version.

We used papers from the Tea for Two Designer Series Paper set as a stamping base (daubered around the edges with Soft Suede) and then stamped images from Elements of Style and Serene Silhouettes. We then coloured the floral image and punched butterflies using both the Elegant Butterfly & Bitty Butterfly Punches. We finished with basic pearls and floral trim. The screen shaping was created using the Decorative Label punch. If you only place your paper in to the punch half way and then punch you get the lovely shaped effect along the bottom.
Our second project (and my technique for the day) is this Vellum gift bag. I know my crafty ladies love using Vellum in their crafting and had previously loved the Vellum bags available in our previous seasonal catalogue. So I set about finding a gift bag tutorial that I could try using Vellum with. My tip for the day is to try replacing your usual cardstock or designer papers with a sheet of Vellum when making a gift bag to see the effect you will get. Vellum looks beautiful embossed (it goes white where the stress is placed on the Vellum when embossing). This works especially well with smaller bags like this. It would be perfect for party favours or to put brightly coloured chocolates in as a gift.

We finished our bag with an image stamped using Fine Feathers and a bitty button layered with matching cardstock.

Try It Tuesday on a Wednesday

Good afternoon and hello to my Try it Tuesday feature (a day late again!). Maybe I should change it to Making on a Wednesday instead ;0)

I am back to normal scrapbooking service this week. The above layout is one of the pages we created last night at our monthly scrapbooking class. I cannot for the life of me remember where I found the inspiration for this page. I have looked all over Pinterest to see if it was there to no avail. I saw a page with a beautiful paper created birdhouse that inspired this layout and would love to give credit.

I used the beautiful Birds of a Feather and More Amore Designer Series Papers on a Marina Mist base for this 12"x12" page. The stamped images are from Elements of Style and Aviary (the Marina Mist accent bottom right). We created the floral embellishments using a variety of papers and circle punches (finished with designer buttons).

I love the simplicity of this page and the multifunction use of the birdhouse. It would work for a number of pictures, themes or occasions.

Next months theme is going to be formal evening wear. I look forward to creating some pages for my ladies to use their lovely cruise photos on.

I have some pictures to share with you of some beautiful projects my team shared with me on Monday at our monthly shoebox swap. But to finish today I will share with you my project that I created for the swap. I love this simple little triangular gift box. I found the instructions for this project here.

Thanks for joining me today. Please get in touch if you'd like to join my scrapbooking class or find out more about Stampin' Up! and their products.

Happy crafting ;0)

Happy Birthday Mum

I know I promised you card class cards over the weekend. But I decided to share with you my Mum's birthday cards today instead. Wishing my lovely Mum a very Happy Birthday today ;0)

I used lots of sneak peak Spring Summer Catalogue items to make these cards.

The first card uses a stamped floral image from Elements of Style coloured with my Watercolour Crayons and blended with a blender pen. I then used some of the gorgeous new 3.2cm Two Tone Ribbon (Pink Pirouette/Rose Red) to create a banner which I then layered with Happy Birthday stamped with the Notable Alphabet.  I then finished with Basic Pears and beautiful flowers cut from a length of the gorgeous new Vanilla Flower Trim (by far my new favourite product from the new Spring Summer catalogue!).
My second card is a mini page layout using a standard 6" x 4" print. This is a 4 generation family pic with my  Nanny, Mum, Sisters and Summer taken at Christmas. The base card is from the Natural Composition Speciality DSP. I then embellished with highlights cut from the Tea for Two Designer Series Paper and accessories from the beautiful Artisan Embellishment Kit (the resin heart and flower, the scalloped lace).
I cannot tell you how many beautiful things there are to get your hands on in the new Spring Summer catalogue. I am just overwhelmed with all the fabulous embellishments and accessories for cardmaking and scrapbooking. As previously posted I am holding an Open House next Saturday between 10am and 3.30pm at my home in Newport, please click here for more info.

Happy Birthday to my Mum and happy weekend scrapping
