Button Tree Birthday Card with Stampin' Up! Designer Buttons

Good morning crafters. How is this fine May treating you so far? Did you have a good weekend? It was a lovely bright and mild weekend here on the Isle of Wight. I was busily tucked up crafting. I made the most of every minute in my craft room as I had spent some time Pinteresting and was feeling super inspired. I also spent Saturday afternoon in the company of my lovely monthly card class ladies. More to come on those projects later in the week.....

Today's crafty make is this Button Tree Birthday Card.

I had seen a tree made with buttons on Pinterest and decided it would work perfectly with the stamped image from the Hopeful Thoughts stamp set. I stamped the tree in Chocolate Chip Ink on to a 9.2cm square of Baked Brown Sugar DSP from the 2013-2015 In Color Designer Series Paper Stack. I inked the edges in Chocolate Chip using my sponge dauber and then layered on to a 9.5cm square of Old Olive and a 10cm square of Naturals Ivory cardstock.

Once I had the basic layers (which I also wrapped with Linen Thread) I then arranged my Designer Buttons. I used different shapes and sizes from the Regals and Brights Collections. I laid them all out to cover the branches of the stamped image. Once happy with my arrangement I used Glue Dots to secure them to the card base.

Exciting news, be sure to check out the newly updated Clearance Rack by clicking the picture below. There are lots of newly added (and hugely reduced!) products at fantastic prices. But they are selling out fast so be sure to get your order in sooner rather than later.

You can order all Stampin' Up! products through my online store by clicking here or by clicking on any of the product links above. I will also happily order any products for you. Just drop me a line on poulton_sarah@yahoo.co.uk or 01983 609249 and I'll happily assist.

Serene Silhouettes Art Gallery Card using Stampin' Up! products

A very Happy Thursday to you all.

I'm a bit late in posting today. It has been a crazy busy week one way or another what with baby jabs (*big sad face*) and appointments and a bit of crafting too. Oh and I am up to my ears in card class preparation too. So please accept my apologies for a late in the day crafty post this afternoon.

If you have 'liked' my Facebook page (www.facebook.com/stampinupiow) you will have been following the pictures I have been sharing of all my lovely Telford swaps. Pop over and click like if you'd like a little swappy inspiration. Demonstrators are a truly creative bunch of crafters.

I was blog surfing a few weeks ago and came across a beautiful card that had taken an art gallery as its inspiration for a card layout. I just loved the simple idea and decided to have a go with my daubers and the Serene Silhouettes stamp set.

I used a simple Basic Black cardstock base (21cm x 14.8cm scored at 10.5cm) and then created three 1.5" squares for the mini artworks. I sponge these with my daubers in Old Olive, Crushed Curry and Pool Party to create the grass, sunset and sky.

I then stamped the silhouettes (the bottom silhouette is taken from the Wetlands stamp set) in Basic Black over the top. I finished with two tiny butterflies cut using my Beautiful Wings Embosslits (they were cut using the Quatrefancy Speciality Paper) and the greeting from Wetlands stamped in Encore Silver ink.

You can order all Stampin' Up! products through my online store by clicking here or by clicking on any of the product links above. I will also happily order any products for you. Just drop me a line on poulton_sarah@yahoo.co.uk or 01983 609249 and I'll happily assist.

And don't forget to check out this weeks Weekly Deals below to see what fab items are discounted for a limited time only (until Tuesday). Click on the picture to click to the weekly deals on my online store.

Easter Chick Punch Art Treat

Hello and welcome to another cold crafty day here on the Isle of Wight. We are frizzly cold. Where did the lovely sunshine go from a couple of weeks ago? Still the forecast is looking a little better for the weekend so fingers crossed we see the sun again soon.

Here is another little Easter Treat for a March crafty day. This was designed by Lorraine, one of my downline team, for our last crafty shoebox swap. I love this little punch art chick (and I love the choccie eggs even more! Sadly these were spotted by Summer so never made it as far as Easter! In fact in my post-operative recovery state there has been very little chocolate that hasn't been eaten as it keeps my strength up. Thats my excuse and I'm sticking to it!).

I love using these 1"x8" Cellophane Bags for seasonal treats. They fit lots of different shape and size choccie treats from Mini Eggs to Skittles to M&Ms. You can create a topper with punches or a mini card to seal the top. Bobs your uncle, a quick and easy seasonal treat or table gift.

Here is a close up of the punch art chick which uses the Scallop Circle Punch and various sized circle punches to create the eyes and body. The beak is created using the Small Heart Punch. This is a really quick and easy little chick to make and is perfect for a little Spring or Easter treat.

Thank you for popping by today. If you'd like to find out more about joining my team and coming along to our team monthly Shoebox Swap please pop by the 'Join My Team' tab at the top of my blog. Alternatively, please get in touch on poulton_sarah@yahoo.co.uk or 01983 609249 to have a chat about Stampin' Up! and the flexibility of building a crafty business around your life and commitments.  And don't forget if you sign up during Sale-A-Bration (until March 31st) you can customise your starter kit by choosing £150 of product for the bargain price of just £99!! There really isn't a better time to join the Island Inkers.

I have been with Stampin' Up! for over 4 years now and I have built my crafty business around my employed job as an Admin Manager. I have also continued to run my classes and demonstrate for local craft  & community groups, women's groups & friends and family around having two babies. Stampin' Up! is flexible around your free time and can easily be fitted to your needs. You can sign up as a hobby demo (ordering at a discount for yourself) or you can set yourself targets to build it up to a full time career. There is no pressure to do more than you want to do and it really is a lovely company to be involved with. I'd love to chat to you about it, so please get in touch with any questions.

Happy Watercolour Tag Card

Good morning crafty friends.

I have a lovely creation for you this morning designed by Hayley, one of my lovely team of Stampin' Up! Demonstrators. We had our monthly shoebox swap meet up last week and this was the gorgeous card Hayley brought along for us all to create.

This showcases so many of the beautiful products in the Spring Summer catalogue as well as the fabulous Decorative Dots Textured Impressions Embossing Folder which you can add to your order for free as part of Sale-A-Bration (when you spend £45).

The Happy Watercolor stamp set is my absolute favourite new set from the Spring Summer catalogue. I just love the effect of the graduated background stamp which gives the paintbrush swish effect. It makes creating a watercolour effect so simple.

This card uses Pear Pizzazz, Wisteria Wonder and Elegant Eggplant (used for highlighting the floral elements when colouring the stamped images). We coloured the flowers using Blender Pens and the three coloured ink pads.

And did you spot the tag? This was created using a great new punch in the catalogue, the Scalloped Tag Topper Punch. It makes creating matching DSP or cardstock tags so easy. All you need to do is cut your rectangle of paper to size and slot in the punch and voila you have a perfectly punched scallop tag!

Pop back tomorrow as I have some exciting news to share about a fantastic new embossing tool as well as another crafty project to share too.

Please get in touch if you have any questions about Stampin' Up! or if you would like to place an order. I'm always happy to have a crafty chat or help in any way I can: poulton_sarah@yahoo.co.uk or 01983 609249.

Home from Convention

Happy Monday Crafters ;0)

I am home from a crazy week away campervan-ing around Wales in the lead up to Convention in Manchester. Convention itself was crazy and HUGE. So many people to meet and chat to and swap with. I came home with the HUGEST bulging box of swaps (photos to follow very soon!). There is everything in there from wrapped chocolates to a Stampin' Up! necklace to lovely cards and cardfronts to brooches and even a paper crafted fascinator. It is always amazing to see the levels of creativity and the ideas people have. But, as I said, that's a whole post for another day......

I've come home and looked through my photos to realise I only took pictures of cards and samples. I havent a single picture of the stage, the fabulous presenters or any of my team mates. What a wally I am!! I got so caught up in the creativity that I forgot to take pictures I'd be able to share and scrapbook. I will be sharing some pictures over the upcoming days of the amazing swaps I received and share some crafty projects too. I have a super busy crafty week ahead and have lots of things to share.

It was announced that for the next 3 years Stampin' Up! Convention will be held in Brussels, Belgium. Next years event is being held from 16-18th October. I would love to welcome you to my Island Inkers team and have you join me and some current members of my team for a crazy weekend of crafty creativity. If you click on the 'Join My Team' tab above you can find out more information about joining Stampin' Up! either as a hobby demonstrator or to build yourself a creative business. I have a lovely team and we meet monthly to chat and craft. And the pic below shows the welcome pack I give to all new joiners to my team.

And while we are chatting about exciting Stampin' Up! announcements. It was announced at Convention that Stampin' Up! are launching the FAB Undefined line in the UK (available now). If you click on the flyer below it will direct you through to my online store for more info. Undefined is a fantastic and new creative stamping product for carving your own images. The Carving Kit includes the tools and product needed to make your own stamp set. You are completely unlimited in what you carve and create.

We were given a sample kit at Convention and there was a devoted area for giving carving a go. I created a little stamp for Summer which I was actually really pleased with. And would you believe it, I cannot find it anywhere!? I'm going to have to have another look tomorrow and then I can share my stamp with you.

Please get in touch if you'd like any further information about Stampin' Up!, joining my team or the Undefined kit, please get in touch. I'd be happy to chat to you about anything crafty or Stampin' Up!: poulton_sarah@yahoo.co.uk or 01983 609249.

Stampin' Up! UK A Happy Day at the Beach Scrapbook Page

Good morning all.

Lovely to be back blogging. I have a whole file on my computer of edited and ready to go project pictures and I just haven't had any free time to write the necessary blog posts for you. I will ensure I get back on track this week to share lots of lovely crafting.

By way of apology I will share a couple of crafty projects today to get the crafty week started.

The above project was a page from last month's scrapbooking class. I was asked to think along the lines of cruising and holiday scrapbooking. So this was the page I came up with inspired by the Stampin' Up! By The Seashore stamp set and Soho Subway Designer Series Paper (mixed with matching sheets of blue DSP from other sets including the Epic Day This and That DSP and DSP Paper Stacks).

I loved the beach embellishment created with a length of the new Burlap Ribbon in the Autumn Winter catalogue. So simple yet perfect for any seaside or beachy themed page.  The '2013' was stamped with the Memorable Moments stamp set in the main catalogue.

And as a Tuesday bonus here is a Christmas card I created for my card class last month. I absolutely adore the Calm Christmas stamp set and love how it matches the Bird Builder Punch (I used this punch to create the leafy branch in the birds mouth). The bird image was stamped in Versamark and heat embossed with silver powder. I love the intricate details on the bird and Stampin' Up!'s powder is so fine that all these details are kept when you heat emboss.

The image was then layered on to ovals cut with my Ovals Collections Framelits. I embossed the top layer with the Pretty Print Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and layered this over a Silver Foil Oval. The final detail is the greeting which is from the Stampin' Up! More Merry Messages stamp set and stamped using my Silver Metallic Encore Pad. To find out more about the More Merry Messages set and other carry over sets from last years Autumn Winter catalogue please see this post.

Thank you for joining me today and my apologies again for the lack of creativity recently. I have been snowed under at work and with growing another baby and looking after Summer. It has all got a bit too busy. But I will ensure I share some of my lovely festive projects and I also have some smashing cards to share from my team shoebox swap last night too.

And one quick reminder that if you are placing an online order through my online store during October, don't forget to add the hostess code below for your chance to win the combined hostess freebies for the month:

Happy Tuesday Craftiness to you all and please get in touch with any questions or queries about the projects or about the products I have used. I'd love to help.

Postcard Scrapbooking

Good morning crafters. Hope you've all had a lovely week and only a few hours to the weekend now.

I thought I would share a recent scrapbook page I completed. The theme for last month's scrapbooking class was cruising. I am helping my class ladies get started with their cruise holiday album. I needed a page that would work as a general holiday page but suited a cruise theme too.

I decided that Stampin' Up!'s Postcard stamp made a perfect centre piece for a page. We used the postcard to both create a title focus and a pocket for mementos and hidden journalling.

The colour scheme for this page is Marina Mist and Summer Starfruit with accents in Midnight Muse. The 6x6 Designer Series Paper square is from the Epic Day This and That paper pack. The edging stamping uses the compass and globe from Stampin' Up!'s The Open Sea stamp set.

We used the Chevron Border Punch to create a mask and inked the Midnight Muse chevron accents. To finish we added Candy Dots to add a bit of dimension and colour.

And just a quick reminder, if you are placing an online order through my online store during October, don't forget to add the hostess code below for your chance to win the combined hostess freebies for the month:

An exciting announcement

So if you've been wondering why things have been a little quiet on the crafty front recently, here is the answer. I am expecting another little Poulton-Williams. I am currently just over 14 weeks so things are getting a little easier now and I'm not feeling as green all the time.  But trying to find time to craft during the first 3 months while balancing a 16 month old, nausea and exhaustion proved somewhat challenging.

But as you can see, expecting another little one is a perfect excuse to have another go with MDS (My Digital Studio). I never need much excuse to scrapbook and I found this template within MDS that was perfect for our 12 week scan photos. This is exactly why I love the software so much, it holds premade templates within it which you can insert your photos in to if you are pressed for time. Or you can create from scratch if you have a bit more time.

You can find out all about My Digital Studio and purchase the software to download through my online store. Click here for a direct link. It really is a bargain at £13.95 (or download the trial version free for 30 days!).

Please get in touch with any questions or queries about MDS or Stampin' Up! I'll try my best to answer (or find the answer for you). You can contact me on poulton_sarah@yahoo.co.uk or 01983 609249.

And please bear with me if things are a little hectic here. Pregnancy is definitely a different experience second time around with a little one on the loose to chase about the place.

A little bit of festive sparkle

My share for today is this pop up card using a whole host of lovely Stampin' Up! products. It was inspired by a beautiful card I found on Pinterest created by a US Demo.

The card base is cut from Shimmery White cardstock which gives a lovely subtle sparkly effect to the snowflake themed card. I think this cardstock can often be overlooked in the catalogue but I love the subtle sparkliness (Page 156 of the main Catalogue). I used my Card Base Pop 'n Cuts die with the Label Pop 'n Cuts insert to create the overall card shape.

The inspiration for the colours of the snowflakes (stamped and die cut using the Festive Flurry Framelits and stamp set available as a bundle in the Autumn Winter catalogue) is the beautiful Winter Frost Speciality Designer Series Paper. I cannot wait to share more projects created with this fantastic speciality paper as it features two beautiful foil accented sheets. These tones of blue, teal and turquoise are going to feature a lot in my Christmas crafting this year (or in Stampin' Up! speak thats Bermuda Bay, Coastal Cabana, Island Indigo, Pool Party, Smoky Slate and Whisper White).

The sparkly accents were added using the lovely Silver Glimmer Paper and punched with the Scallop Edge Punch. And the final detail was added using a Bright Candy Dot and Brad Base to secure the two snowflakes together for the top embellishment.

Thanks for stopping by today. I will have more to share from our crafty days tomorrow. Please get in touch with any questions about the products or techniques used. I'm only too happy to help: poulton_sarah@yahoo.co.uk or 01983 609249.

A couple of quick cards for the weekend

Good morning crafters!

It looks to be a lovely weekend here on the Isle of Wight. The sun is out and shining (and its only 7am!).

I was going through some files on my computer this morning and found a couple of cards I haven't yet shared with you. I am currently buried in Christmas preparation for my big all day Christmas Day next weekend so new projects are top secret for a little longer.

The first share today is a 'Thinking of You' card I made for a friend recently who had some sad news. I have had the Stampin' Up! Hopeful Thoughts stamp set sat in my stamping cupboard for a little while and never inked it up. It is such a lovely stamp set for creating those sadly essential sympathy or get well soon cards. I created the card above using a Stampin' Up! Naturals Ivory cardstock base and then layering with (now retired) DSP. I then coloured directly on to the tree stamp with Old Olive and Chocolate Chip and created the two tone inked image. I finished the card by layering this on to an Old Olive layer and creating the floral embellishments with my Itty Bitty Shapes floral punch and Rich Razzleberry (topped with Basic Pearls).

The second card is a beautiful layered card one of my downline designed for a recent shoebox swap. It uses a scored Perfect Plum base which we then sponged over with the same tone ink to give a suede effect. We then layered Whisper White cardstock cut with the Adorning Accents Edgelits (and embossed with the matching folder) and ruffled Organza Ribbon. We punched Whisper White butterflies and raised these with dimensionals. The final detail was to add Basic Pearls to the scored lines and the three butterflies.

Thanks for popping by this morning. I hope you have a lovely crafty weekend planned wherever you are in the country. I'm off to have a bit of breakfast and dive back in to all my Christmas-y preparation. Projects to be shared very soon ;0)

Please get in touch for more info on Stampin' Up! or to find out about signing up as a Demonstrator yourself or hosting a Stampin' Up! party.

A little bit of Hostess Club craftiness

Good morning and a very happy Tuesday to you.

Today I thought I would share some little makes I created over the weekend for my Hostess Club ladies.

This is the first month of the club so I thought I would share the Stampin' Up! joy and get everyone started with some crafty essentials, a sheet of Dimensionals, an Anywhere Glue Stick, a Sponge Dauber and some different ribbons all tied up and ready to craft with.

I created a personalised monogram on the side of each gift using the fabulous Occasions Alphabet punched with the Petite Curly Label punch and layered over a little length of Gingham Garden Washi Tape.

And here is the Thank You label stamped with one of the frames from the Four Frames stamp set. The Thank You is from a new set called Lots of Thanks. The colours used are Melon Mambo and Old Olive. I finished the label with a Melon Mambo Candy Dot and two Rhinestones.

I'd love to welcome you to join a new Hostess Club and I can help you benefit from all the lovely freebies & promotions on a month to month basis (as well as one month you will receive all the hostess benefits for the months combined orders). I need 10 people to run another club, so please get in touch and register your interest and I would be more than happy to start another club very soon. Please click here for further info.

Thanks for stopping by. Hope you are having a sunny and crafty week wherever you are. It looks to be getting brighter again here on the Isle of Wight. But the weekends rain was a much needed break in the hot weather. My garden is much happier for it.

And just before I go here is one more little crafty share, my little Summer indulging in my ribbon share package! This delightful package arrived from a Demonstrator friend on the mainland who had organised a product share and Summer was desperate to get her hands on all my lovely new ribbons. She gets into more mischief with every passing day.

Try It Tuesday: New Home Moving Card

Hello and welcome to Tuesday's little bit of Isle of Wight craftiness. A good crafty friend of mine, Hayley, of Happiness is Homemade, is moving back to the big island this week (Southampton to be precise). I met her for lunch today with another friend of ours, strictly not to say goodbye but instead to have a quick catch up before the move and a 'see you soon'.

As you'll see from her blog, she makes beautiful cards and crafty bits and bobs, so I knew I needed to make her a fabulous good luck on the move card. I'd saved this card to my Stampin' Up! ideas Pinterest board months and months ago. While searching for a bit of inspiration I came across it and thought it would lend itself beautifully to these gorgeous new papers from the new 2013-2014 catalogue, Gingham Garden Designer Series Paper. So I set about giving it my own crafty twist.

To anyone who reads my blog regularly or who knows me, you'll realise I'm not really one for imprecise crafting. The most extreme of my crafting is to tear a bit of cardstock or distress the edges of my scrapbook page. I am not one for this sort of style. But I absolutely loved giving this a go. So maybe there is an art journaller/collage maker inside trying to get out after all.

In fact, this card is one of my favourite cards I've ever made. I loved adding the personal details in the doodles such as the family names and well wishes. I find opening a new pack of pretty papers so inspiring and these sneak peak papers just gave me a kick of crafty mojo.

Here are close ups of some of the details on the card:

To create this card I used a full sheet of Crumb Cake A4 cardstock folded in half for the card base. I then cut the background to size and cut the hill from the green patterned papers. I then cut a rectangle for the house and a matching triangle for the roof and then pieced together the rest of the paper elements. I used my Stampin' Write Journaller as I went to add the doodling detail.

This card uses:

Cardstock: Crumb Cake

Papers: Regals Patterned Paper Stack & Gingham Garden
Punches: Word Window (Fence), Small Heart, 2-3/8" Scallop Circle (Sun)
Embellishments: Large Heart from Artisan Embellishments Kit & Subtles Designer Buttons
Big Shot Die: Peekaboo Frames (for the window)

Please get in touch if you have any questions about this card or the products I have used to create it. If you'd like to place an order to create your own version of this, I would be more than happy to help. You can contact me on 01983 609249 or 07830 343830, or by email: poulton_sarah@yahoo.co.uk.

Happy Father's Day

I thought I would share the card I made to celebrate Father's Day today. I'm off to spend the afternoon with my Dad at the Isle of Wight Festival watching The Script and Bon Jovi (hoping the sun makes an appearance at some point, or at least that it stops raining for the headliners!).

The card I made for my Dad uses some special sneak peak papers to be seen in a new catalogue near you very soon (the fab New York inspired Soho Subway Designer Series Papers). The stamp set I used to create the fish is By The Tide and I embellished with the fab This and That Washi Tape, linen thread and a retired button.

Wishing you all a lovely & crafty Sunday and thanks for popping by today. Happy Father's Day to all the Dads out there.

Try It Tuesday: Sunshine and Sprinkles

Well what a day! We've just got home from a trip to A&E with Sam. He hurt his leg leaving work and is now on crutches for a couple of weeks. How typical is that with all the exciting camping adventuring we had planned for the next couple of weeks.

So to unwind from a crazy day I am posting a scrapbook page I created for my May scrapbook class. I have seen these paper sunshine designs all over scrapbooks and card blogs for a few months now and couldn't believe how simple it was to create. I had over thought the process in my head. Who knew it was as simple as drawing the sunshine shape on to scrap card (starting with the straight line for the horizon) and using that as a template on fancy patterned papers to create this bright sunrise using the fab Stampin' Up! Sunshine and Sprinkles Designer Series Papers.

I love these vibrant bright designs and will be sad to see them leave the catalogue (although I have seen a sneaky peak of some new items and papers and I am sure there will be new favourites just around the corner ;0)

We also used the Every Little Bit stamp set to create the corner detail and the builder brads with a small circle punched from the coordinating paper designs.

And on the subject of the new catalogue, I will be hosting an Open House event on Saturday July 6th between 10.30am and 3pm. Pop along to get hold of your copy of the new Stampin' Up! catalogue and try some of the lovely new products.

I will have free Make and Takes available throughout the day along with tea/coffee so please feel free to drop by and have a chat and craft.

On the day I will be offering:
  • A free catalogue
  • Free P&P for all orders
  • Incentive gifts for anyone booking a workshop
  • A chance to win a Stampin' Up! door prize

The events will be held at my home in Newport, please contact me for further information or to let me know you will be attending: poulton_sarah@yahoo.co.uk or

Thursday Technique Tip- Stamping Block Backgrounds

Lots to share with you today.

Its such an exciting time of the year to be a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator as we get our sneak peak at the new 2013-2014 catalogue tomorrow ready for the launch on July 2nd. It is going to be a late night for me tonight waiting for the sneak peaks to go live on the Demonstrator website. If you'd like to get sneaky peak access to new products as well as a fab discount on all crafty products in the catalogues, have you thought about signing up as a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator. You can find out more using the 'Join My Team' tab above. And today is the last day for signing up and getting an extra £25 in your Starter Kit (thats £155 for the bargain price of £99). I'd love to welcome you to the Wight Stampers.

Now, for a bit of craftiness. The card above is one of the technique based cards I taught at this month's crafty card class. It uses a technique I learned from a very talented Demo friend, Lynne, at our recent Stampin' Up! traning event in Telford.

You can create these lovely blended backgrounds using your acrylic stamping block, inks (pens, ink pads, ink refills) and a water spritzer. It is such a fab technique and it never looks the same twice ;0)  I created three blended blocks of colour and then stamped over using The Open Sea and By The Tide stamp sets.

Lynne has posted a technique video over on Youtube explaining this technique. You can find it here:

And while I am sharing videos. Here is another for you. This direct from Stampin' Up! UK showing what we all get up to at our Regional Events. Watch closely and you might even spot a familiar face ;0)

Thanks for stopping by today. Happy Crafting ;0)
