Postcard Scrapbooking

Good morning crafters. Hope you've all had a lovely week and only a few hours to the weekend now.

I thought I would share a recent scrapbook page I completed. The theme for last month's scrapbooking class was cruising. I am helping my class ladies get started with their cruise holiday album. I needed a page that would work as a general holiday page but suited a cruise theme too.

I decided that Stampin' Up!'s Postcard stamp made a perfect centre piece for a page. We used the postcard to both create a title focus and a pocket for mementos and hidden journalling.

The colour scheme for this page is Marina Mist and Summer Starfruit with accents in Midnight Muse. The 6x6 Designer Series Paper square is from the Epic Day This and That paper pack. The edging stamping uses the compass and globe from Stampin' Up!'s The Open Sea stamp set.

We used the Chevron Border Punch to create a mask and inked the Midnight Muse chevron accents. To finish we added Candy Dots to add a bit of dimension and colour.

And just a quick reminder, if you are placing an online order through my online store during October, don't forget to add the hostess code below for your chance to win the combined hostess freebies for the month:

In Colour scrapbooking: Life's a Breeze

Good morning and welcome to a new stamping crafty week here at Stampin' Sarah!

I finally got the chance to sit down and do a bit of scrapbooking last night. I am planning some projects for this month's scrapbooking class (Wednesday 17th 7pm). Here is one of the pages I created last night. Three of my scrapping ladies are mainly scrapping cruise photos so I was looking to create something that would be suitable for summer-y photos as well as fitting a cruise theme also.

For this I used a Very Vanilla 12"x12" base card coupled with Bermuda Bay & Coastal Cabana accessories. The patterned DSP is from the 2013-2015 In Colour Paper Stack, the label is cut using the Apothecary Accents Framelits from Coastal Cabana Coredinations card, and the button embellishment is from the In Color Boutique Details (fab! Page 169).

I created the background using a post it note and cutting a cloud shape from it. I then used a sponge and Soft Sky ink to sponge around the edges of the cloud mask. I did this all around the page to create the cloud effect.

The stamping is the globe from The Open Sea and the Cotton Ribbon is stamped using Burnt Brown Sugar and the compass from the same stamp set.

I am absolutely in love with all our new Stampin' Up! colours, especially the new In Colors, and loved using the blues to create this page.

If you'd like to find out more about the products or find out more about my classes or placing an order, please get in touch either via email: poulton_sarah@yahoo.co.uk or phone: 01983 609249.

Thanks for popping by today and happy Tuesday crafting ;0)

Thursday craftiness

Good evening all. What a lovely day its been. I thought this weekend was meant to be a washout but our Isle of Wight weather has been beautiful today. Sam and I were meant to be camping but his leg is still on the mend so we're limited in what we can get up to. So instead I made the most of my days holiday by taking Summer swimming (she is a real water baby) and then doing a bit of gardening with Mum (we're at the worse before it gets better stage at the moment!).

Anyways, back to the important crafty business for the day. I have a couple of projects to share today from my May Cardmaking Class. Not sure how I missed sharing these cards previously.

The first uses a lovely technique of heat embossing the image using white embossing powder on to vellum and them sponging colour on to the reverse of the vellum. It gives you a lovely subtle colour on the front. The stamp set used for this card is Everything Eleanor. The colour combination is Summer Starfruit, Cajun Craze and Pool Party.
Here is another of the projects we made. A fancy fold envelope card made from a sheet of 12x12 (you'll have to forgive me as I cannot find the original tutorial I used. I will have a look later to try and add info here for you).
I used the Regals Designer Series Paper stack to create this card. I thought it had a lovely masculine feel to it that perfectly matched The Open Sea stamp set.

Thanks for stopping by today. Don't forget only 10 days left to take advantage of the Retiring Lists. I am placing orders regularly through the month and many items are already sold out. Please check the lists out here and I will be more than happy to add your items to an order for you.

Thursday Technique Tip- Stamping Block Backgrounds

Lots to share with you today.

Its such an exciting time of the year to be a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator as we get our sneak peak at the new 2013-2014 catalogue tomorrow ready for the launch on July 2nd. It is going to be a late night for me tonight waiting for the sneak peaks to go live on the Demonstrator website. If you'd like to get sneaky peak access to new products as well as a fab discount on all crafty products in the catalogues, have you thought about signing up as a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator. You can find out more using the 'Join My Team' tab above. And today is the last day for signing up and getting an extra £25 in your Starter Kit (thats £155 for the bargain price of £99). I'd love to welcome you to the Wight Stampers.

Now, for a bit of craftiness. The card above is one of the technique based cards I taught at this month's crafty card class. It uses a technique I learned from a very talented Demo friend, Lynne, at our recent Stampin' Up! traning event in Telford.

You can create these lovely blended backgrounds using your acrylic stamping block, inks (pens, ink pads, ink refills) and a water spritzer. It is such a fab technique and it never looks the same twice ;0)  I created three blended blocks of colour and then stamped over using The Open Sea and By The Tide stamp sets.

Lynne has posted a technique video over on Youtube explaining this technique. You can find it here:

And while I am sharing videos. Here is another for you. This direct from Stampin' Up! UK showing what we all get up to at our Regional Events. Watch closely and you might even spot a familiar face ;0)

Thanks for stopping by today. Happy Crafting ;0)

More team makes for a Tuesday

There are just 3 more days to take advantage of Stampin' Up!'s fabulous Starter Kit offer. Until May 30th if you sign up to join Stampin' Up! as a Demonstrator you will receive an extra £25 in your Starter Kit. That is £155 of product for the bargain price of £99.

If you'd like to find out more info about joining Stampin' Up! you can see the
'Join My Team' tab at the top of the page.

I'd love to welcome you to my team and welcome you along to our monthly team training sessions. We all prepare a shoebox swap style make and take project and have a catch up over Haribo and a cuppa.

Here are two more of the beautiful projects we completed at this months get together.

This first card was demonstrated by the lovely Hayley. This uses the scoreboard to create the raised diamonds and then a dauber/sponge and Elegant Eggplant ink to create the suede effect (tone on tone inking over the whole surface of the card). I love the ruffled Organza ribbon too.

This second card was demonstrated by Lorraine. I love The Open Sea stamp set. It makes such great masculine style cards. I love these colours together- Pool Party, Soft Suede, Very Vanilla and Chocolate Chip. Daubering has to be one of my all time favourite techniques. I love the ageing effect it has to create antique style images.
Thanks for popping by today and please get in touch with any crafty queries: poulton_sarah@yahoo.co.uk or 01983 609249.

Two fancy frames for a Friday

Happy Friday!

Only a couple of hours and it'll officially be the weekend. Hooray!! I'm excited to be demo-ing for some good friends tonight. I have a lovely Swallowtail card planned for the ladies. What a perfect way to start the bank holiday.

Today I am sharing two of our April card class projects. The first uses the Oval Framelits from the Spring Summer catalogue to create this peep through frame. Perfect to mount the dress created using the Dress Up Framelits and the Vanilla Flower Trim. The black oval inside the card was stamped in Whisper White with the En Francais background stamp.

I could use these Flower Trim flowers on all my projects at the moment. I just absolutely love their versatility.
Our second card uses The Open Sea ship stamped in Chocolate Chip and coloured with inks and blender pens. This was then set on to a Brushed Gold frame embossed (and cut around) using the Designer Frames folder. The Happy Birthday sentiment is from the Itty Bitty Banners stamp set.
Wishing you all a very Happy May Day weekend. Lets hope the sun shines for the bank holiday.

Happy long weekend craftiness ;0)

The Open Sea Workshop Make

Here is my June workshop make inspired by a card I'd seen a member of the Stampin' Up! team I belong to make. I love this maritime inspired card and especially love using the new Summer Mini stamp set The Open Sea. The colour scheme is Early Espresso and Crumb Cake. I used a sentiment from Teeny Tiny Wishes. And the embellishments are the mini brads from the main catalogue. The background is stamped using the Woodgrain stamp.

And a quick Summer update.  Here is a pic from my cousin's wedding of Summer with my lovely Dad ;0) She is getting so big now and enjoys chatting and smiling with us all (she loves being around groups of chatting women- I think the sound of chatter is soothing to her. She'll fit right in with my craft classes once she is a bit older).

Please get in touch with any questions about Stampin' Up!

Happy crafting ;0)
