A Cookie Cutter Northern Lights Christmas Card from Stampin' Up! UK Demonstrator Sarah Poulton

Happy Monday Crafters.

How are you lovelies? I've had a lovely crafty weekend. I spent Sunday with my lovely Pinkie teamies at my Stampin' Up! upline Michelle's bi-annual training up in North Hants. We spent the day crafting and chatting and eating cake. It was a brilliant day which ended with a fabulous raffle. Getting together with fellow Stampin' Up!-ers is still one of my favourite things about being a Demonstrator. I love seeing old and new faces and crafting with others.

Part of our day involved swapping in small groups. I'd signed up for two swaps- a Christmas card and a shaker card. Today's crafty share is the Christmas card I created to share with my swap group. I used a technique I'd not tried before, the shaving foam background technique. I used this to create the swirls for the Northern Lights and as you can see each of my cards was completely unique.

To create the background I used my Tempting Turquoise, Pool Party, Rich Razzleberry and Island Indigo reinkers dropped onto a bed of shaving foam and then streaked together with my bone folder. I then placed my cut to size Whisper White layer onto the shaving foam and pressed to ensure full coverage of the ink. I then removed my card and wiped the excess foam off with kitchen roll.

I created my igloo by cutting a circle from Whisper White using the Circle Framelits, cutting a portion from the bottom of my circle and then using the small oval die from the Layering Ovals Framelit set to cut the door. I then embossed with the Brick folder. I layered this over a piece of Pool Party cardstock shaped to create my snow scene. I finished by adding Silver Metallic Enamel Shapes. I stamped my little Inuit in Memento Black and coloured with my Blender Pens.

Here is my little crafty helper having a go at creating her own Christmas card backgrounds. She went for more of a rainbow of colours.

This gives you a good idea of how the background effect is created. Dropping the ink and then running the streaks together on the bed of foam.

Bravo meets the Artisan Embellishment Kit from Stampin' Up! UK Demonstrator Sarah Poulton

Happy Friday!

I have a card share today which I CASed from the lovely Vicky over at Crafting Clare. I adored her use of the Artisan Embellishment Kit to create this stencilled background coloured with Stampin' Write markers. I previously used the rose stencil to sponge dauber a background on this  scrapbook page layout.

I secured the stencil to my Whisper White layer with post it notes and then coloured the roses with Blushing Bride and Pink Pirouette markers. I coloured the leaves with Old Olive and Garden Green.

I stamped the Congrats from the Bravo stamp set in Rose Red over the background.

I hope you have a lovely weekend lined up. I will be teaching my monthly card class tomorrow afternoon and I have some lovely projects to share with you all next week following the class.

Hardwood Background Petite Petals Birthday

Good morning crafty friends. How goes your week? It has been a busy one here preparing for our new little one. I sent Sam in to the loft to recover the moses basket and other baby essentials. So I have been busy washing and prepping things for our new arrival. It really does feel like everything is ready, I really just need the baby now ;0) Oh and a name might be helpful. Hopefully Sam and I will agree on something in the next two and a bit weeks.

On our recent Pinkies Blog Hop to celebrate the Spring Summer catalogue I fell in love with this card by a fellow Pinkie, Caro. I decided to create my own version of the card using Baked Brown Sugar textured Coredinations cardstock, Very Vanilla cardstock and Naturals Ivory cardstock.

I absolutely adore the Hardwood background stamp. It is just so perfect for masculine or nature themed cards and is just so effective. I think this might be a stamp easily overlooked in the catalogue but it stamps so beautifully. The Hardwood background worked so well with the Petite Petals stamp set and punch  (available as a bundle here) to create this wreath window effect.

The colour scheme used for this card: Coastal Cabana, Pool Party, Very Vanilla, Baked Brown Sugar and Naturals Ivory (for the stamped background). I also used Soft Suede ink for the sponge daubering of the edges.

I hope you enjoyed my crafty make for today. I'd be happy to help with any questions or queries about Stampin' Up! so please get in touch on poulton_sarah@yahoo.co.uk or 01983 609249. And don't forget I also have an online store that is open 24/7:

My crafty share for this rainy Monday is this lovely card designed by my downline Hayley for a recent shoebox swap. I love this use of the huge Sunflower Background stamp (Page 71 of the main catalogue) overlaid on to the panel stamped with the En Francais background stamp (Page 100). The colour scheme is So Saffron, Early Espresso and Very Vanilla and the card is finished with a Designer Button and Linen Thread.

Please get in touch if you have any questions about todays project, about placing an order or about Stampin' Up! in general. You can contact me on poulton_sarah@yahoo.co.uk or 01983 609249.
