June Card Class Makes

I cannot believe how quickly time is flying by with a newborn. I say newborn, but Summer is actually nearing 7 weeks now and outgrowing her 0-3months clothes. So she is practically a toddler already ;0)

And while my days are dominated by gazing at her lovely little face and taking her out for strolls I have managed to fit in a little crafting too. I am now back teaching my card and scrapbooking classes and last week I demonstrated at my first 'return to Stampin' Up!' workshop for my lovely crafty friends (Hayley wrote about the party over on her fab blog here). I was surprised at how much I missed my classes and catching up with my lovely ladies. And my lovely Mum and sisters looked after Summer upstairs so I could pop up and stick my head in on her as I was fetching bits and pieces for the class that i'd forgotten (it really doesnt matter how organised I think I am I still have to fetch glue dots or clear blocks or a coloured pen every class).

So here are a couple of the projects we made in this months card class.
This first project was cased from Pinterest made by an Australian demo. You can find her original card here. I absolutely adore this Hostess set from the Summer Mini, Pedal Presents. It stamps so beautifully and is so effective just lightly coloured to match the colour scheme (Lucky Limeade, Melon Mambo and Daffodil Delight). This card also gave me an opportunity to use my fab new Edgelit Die and Framelits too ;0)

We also made this seasonal box using the cone die. I saw this strawberry gift box on a blog and thought it would be great to create this seen as how Wimbledon started this week. I love how the polka dot embossed Real Red looks like a real strawberry.

And while I am blogging I can't resist updating with a quick pic of my (not so little) girl. She loves her rainforest activity mat but as you can see from the second picture, it sometimes gets a bit too much for her and it makes an equally comfortable sleeping place.

Right, hopefully I'll get the opportunity to update again a few times this week as I have taken a few more pictures of projects i have been working on ;0)

In the meantime...... Happy Crafting

Home Sweet Home Card

I spent the last week writing and sending my birth announcements and thank you cards to friends and family. My Aunt has recently moved house so with her thank you note I also wanted to post a New Home card too. I had a quick look on Pinterest and found a card very similar to the above. I used it as my inspiration to create a Stampin' Up! version.

For this I used scraps from my Brights Designer Series Paper Stack (Tempting Turquoise, Read Red, Melon Mambo, Pumpkin Pie, Rich Razzleberry) and cut squares using my square punch. I cut some of the squares in half to make the roof triangles. I cut a Real Red scallop edging using the scallop punch and the grass was cut from Pear Pizzazz using my Edgelit Die (one of the best new products from the Stampin' Up! Summer Mini Catalogue). I couldn't lay my hands on a New Home sentiment but I did come across a card I had been given when I moved into my house (5 years ago!) so I cut the sentiment from that to finish this card along with a length of string I found in my Mum's craft tote (I was looking for linen thread and came across this instead).

This is my first official bit of crafting since having Summer and I am pretty pleased with the result.  I am now busily prepping all my card kits for my card class on the 23rd June. If you'd like to book your spot i still have a couple of spaces, get in touch on 609249 or poulton_sarah@yahoo.co.uk.

Happy Crafting ;0)

A little bit of crafting

A while ago I posted about how Mum and I had spent a crafty day making up a batch of birth announcements/thank you cards for Summer's arrival. This was a few weeks before Summer was born and we made them so that all they needed was a photo to finish them off. Well last weekend I finally ordered some newborn photos of Summer to finish the cards ready to write and send out to all the generous and lovely people who have sent flowers, cards and gifts for my little Miss. More through luck than judgement I was able to order wallet sized prints (3" x 2") from Photobox and they fitted the So Saffron layer perfectly.
So the birth announcement was made with Whisper White, Rose Red and So Saffron cardstock and the Bundle of Love stampset. I used my blending pens to create the watercoloured effect with the bootees, rattle and rubber duck. I combined this with Stazon black ink to ensure the colours didn't run with the outline image. I embossed the cardblank with the Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder and stamped polka dots using Whisper White ink and the Dot Dot Dot background stamp onto the Rose Red layers. I finished with a strip of Blushing Bride Poly Stitched Ribbon and a tag punched with the Decorative Label Punch and stamped with the 'Bundle of Love' sentiment.

I dont think the photo quite does the card justice. I am a bit behind with the housework at the moment so couldn't find somewhere nice to stage this pic. I am so pleased with how they have turned out. I just need to find the time to sit down and actually write them all out (I managed to address all the envelopes in advance!)

And just to post a few updates on my beautiful Summer. Here are some further highlights from her first three weeks:
A picnic in the garden with her Aunties and Nana ;0)
Using her bouncy chair for the first time.
A fun family portrait. I suddenly realised I had no pictures of the three of us so asked Mum to snap a few of Sam, Summer and I last week.

It has been a super busy week with lots of visitors and I'm finally a bit more mobile so have been out walking with Summer. I spent ages going through all the photos from her first couple of weeks and loading them up to Photobox. I spent a small fortune ordering lots of prints for me and the family. I can feel a mammouth scrapbooking session coming on to catch up on everything......

Happy crafting all and a fabulous long Jubilee weekend too ;0)
