Christmas Spinning Card

I recently saw this card over on Peg's blog. I'd never seen this spinning style of card before so thought I would have a go for this months card class. Its never too early to think Christmas you know ;0)

I created this spinning wheel card using the Scallop Circle Die for the Big Shot, the Ornament and 1 Inch Circle Punches, Jolly Holiday Designer Series Paper and Every Little Bit Stamp Set. I embellished with Basic Rhinestones, a brad & a silver pen from my crafting stash.

I was surprised by how much everyone loved the effect of this card and it could easily be adapted for any occasion. I thought it would make a lovely new baby card with the little images.

The photos below show each of the images in the ornament window.

Christmas Workshop Makes Mark 2

Better late than never. I finally had the time to post these pictures of our workshop makes from Friday. We had a fantastic Christmas crafting workshop with some lovely ladies. I themed the makes around 'Quick and Easy Christmas'. I wanted to show that stamping can take the fear out of making your own Christmas items and you can actually make things in a quick and easy way. So no need to worry about making 50 Christmas cards. With the right design you can make all your Christmas cards in one afternoon.

Here is the mini Christmas card we made using Every Little Bit (this design would also be workable with any of the 30 mini images in the set). I themed all our projects on colour schemes with Crumb Cake as the base colour. This was then embellished with Real Red and Pear Pizzazz and finished with two basic rhinestones.

We also each made one of these mini nappy pouches using a 6"x6" square of Jolly Holiday Designer Series Paper. We also made a mini 2" square note card to fit inside (stamped in Whisper White onto Cherry Cobler using the background stamp from Season Of Joy).
A quick and simple gift tag cut using the Top Note Die folded in half. The Dasher image was stamped in Cherry Cobler with a matching Merry Christmas sentiment stamped inside.
Our final project was a mini window Pillow Box. I created two different versions to show how quick and easy these little treat boxes can be. The first has the oval punched and the Gifted image stamped inside. Then to embellish I wrapped a length of Jolly Holiday DSP around the Crumb Cake Pillow Box. I cut a window sheet into smaller sections which was used to create the acetate window into the box.
The second version (and the one we all made) was stamped with images from the Season of Joy stamp set in Pear Pizzazz and Cherry Cobbler. This is a perfect little treat box. It could be filled with seasonal treats and then once the sweets have been eaten the greeting is revealed.
Stamp Sets Used: Every Little Bit, Season of Joy, Gifted, Dasher
Designer Series Paper: Jolly Holiday
Ink: Pear Pizzazz, Cherry Cobbler, Whisper White
Card stock: Crumb Cake, Real Red, Whisper White
Embellishments: Buttons, Basic Rhinestones

Eclectic Card Class

I'm a couple of days early with this one (my March class is this Saturday). But as I have been so super busy here with so much going on, my creativity has taken a bit of a hit recently. And I miss blogging. So I wanted to post something new. I have been making a few bits and pieces but they are all using my new stash from the Mini Catalogue launching April 1st (pictures to be posted then!). So in the mean time to tide my poor neglected blog over I have a couple of pictures of cards we will be making this Saturday.

The first is a side step dresser card. This was was inspired by a beautiful card over on my Stampin' Up! friend Peg's blog. I have made a pink version and a blue version using the Teddy from the Every Little Bit stampset and the baby grow cut from the Baby Tees Jumbo Wheel (this way everyone at my card classes gets to have a unique card as each baby grow is different on the wheeled image). The 'Baby' sentiment is from the Tiny Tags stampset. The punches used for this card include: Curly Label, Eyelet Border Punch, Small Heart and various circle punches for the sentiment. And to finish I embellished with brads for the drawer handles from the Metallics collection. The colour combination is Bashful Blue with a hint of Soft Suede for the aged effect.

The second card is made using the curled Crystal Effects flower technique I perfected at Michelle's Bicester Craft Day. For this you need to remember to make the flowers first to give them plenty of time to dry. You can then curl the petals around a knitting needle or pencil to give the petals their shape. The stamps used for this card are: Vintage Vogue, For Everything, Flight of the Butterfly & Curly Cute (Sentiment). I embellished with Dazzling Diamonds sprinkled over the flowers, a pearl for the flower centre and the butterfly body, clear embossing powder for the sentiment.
These are just two of our March projects for the month. I also have a sliding draw box and a card using Lovely As A Tree to finish the afternoon off ;0)

And finally, while not technically crafty, it was my partners 36th birthday yesterday. He is notoriously difficult to buy for so I decided to make him up a 'Make Your Own Sushi' hamper. I bought all the ingredients for us to make California Rolls and then various other rolls with tuna, salmon and king prawns. We've eaten plenty of sushi in our time together but never had a go at making our own. We were pretty impressed with our first attempt. Although we'd definitely make each roll a bit more petite next time. I think we also slightly overstuffed the middles ;0)

JYC Days 22 and 23

Its official! I've completely burnt myself out Christmas craft wise *laugh* I spend all year looking forward to Christmas card making and then I peak too early!! ;0) I had a whole stack of little crafting accessories I wanted to make before Saturday and now all of a sudden I am out of time and Christmas is upon us. So instead of making tags and the like, I've spent the evening making some last minute little pressies for people. Oh and catching up on JYC of course....

Day 22: The prompt was to journal about what I still have to do and last minute lists. I really didnt have any inspiration for that prompt as I really was too scarily organised this year. And I had a lovely day in Portsmouth yesterday which I wanted to journal about instead. So I used that as my focus. We started and ended the day in Starbucks (no Eggnog Latte for me- they'd sold out!!!) which is pretty much a given with me and Mum anyhow. But I adore their Christmas drinks and their seasonal cups too. I had picked up a few spare red cups when they were first launched in November as i wanted to make a mini album with one. But instead I cut one up today to form the journalling section of my LOs.

I cut a cup up, folded in half and then punched holes to make an extra page section for the journal. I stuck an envelope in and used this to store our train tickets and a Starbucks voucher (due to the 6 drinks we purchased in there yesterday I got two packets of coffee for free *hooray for Christmas bargains*)
 Day 23: Prompt- Stockings

Stockings have always been a family tradition in our house. I cannot end this tradition as I just love buying all the little bits and pieces to put in a stocking. The photo is of Sam's stocking this year (I have NO idea why it printed so dark as the photo was super bright). I've filled it with lots of Sam related goodies (cherry liquor curd anyone? Good job he doesnt read this *tee hee*)
The little stockings that are hanging up on my LO are from the FANTASTIC Every Little Bit stamp set from Stampin' Up! I recently treated myself to this set (it is one of the more expensive sets- but worth every penny for all the gorgeous little pictures that come with it. So versatile!)

I'm feeling so contented and festive. Only half a day of work left and then its officially Christmas-time! ;0) Hoping to go along to a Christingle service tomorrow afternoon. I adore listening to the Christmas readings and singing the Christmas Carols.

Happy Festive Crafting and a Very Merry Christmas too.
